Roxy Pro Hawaii

The 11th Annual Roxy Pro Hawaii is set to take place at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park, on Oahu's North Shore, November 12-23, 2005. In addition to being a World Championship Tour event, the Roxy Pro Hawaii will this year celebrate the 50th anniversary of women's competitive surfing. The contest will take place over three days within the 12-day holding period.

As the longest running professional women’s surfing event in Hawaii, and the only women’s competition to be staged on Oahu’s famous "North Shore", the Roxy Pro Hawaii is in a class all its own. It is part of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) tour, and first women’s event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

Staged each year at Haleiwa Ali’i Beach, it is here that the world’s top women’s surfers come face to face with giant winter waves and continue to raise the bar for the sport as they compete for the coveted ASP World Champion Title and the US$65,000 prize purse.

This year’s event will once again play a major part in deciding the world champion. Coming into the event, three Roxy Team Riders are in contention for the crown, headed by reigning world champion Sofia Mulanovich (Peru), who last year clinched the world title at Haleiwa. Chelsea Georgeson (Australia) is currently rated second in the world, and Megan Abubo (Hawaii) is third.
