ROXY PRO HAWAII CONTEST IS ON!

CHELSEA GEORGESON WINS THE ROXY PRO HAWAII
5:00 pm

Roxy rider Chelsea Georgeson wins the Roxy Pro with the highest score of the day, a perfect 10! A perfect 10 is amazing and not handed out to easily in pro surfing. It is especially to get a score like that after using all your strength to surf a heat on 10 minutes prior to your last heat. But, that didn't stop Chelsea as she went straight from the semi-finals and into the finals.

"I've just been surfing all day and my boards felt really good, it's kind of like a dream. I was just really paitent, trying to keep calm to not get too carried away. My board just felt really good out there, so I just went all out for the final and had a really good surf," said Chels, "I feel like there is a little less pressure (going into the maui event) because I am ahead of Sof, so it makes me feel more comfortable going out at Maui, but at the same time she is going to be chasing me. So, it's going to be really exciting either way."

Chelsea is now rated number one on tour with Sofia Mulanovich in second and Megan Abubo in third. Sofia and Chelsea will battle for the the World Title spot at the ASP Maui event December 8-19, 2005. Log on to roxy.com or aspworldtour.com to watch who will be crowned the 2005 World Champ!

FUN FACT: WHY FOUR MAN HEATS INSTEAD OF MAN ON MAN AT THIS CONTEST?

"On the North Shore, the city and county banned man-on-man heats because they didn't want to tie up the water and take all the time away from the recreational surfers. The rules only allow 16 days of contest surf per event. By doing four man heats you can process more people so the county actually wrote it in the rules that you have to do four man heats for the contests on the North Shore, which includes Haleiwa, Waimaia Bay, Pipeline and Sunset Beach," said contest director Randy Rarrick.
