Roxy Womens Surf Festival
January 24 - 29, 2006
Phillip Island, Victoria

Location: Based at Woolamai Beach, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. Depending on conditions organisers have the option of relocating each day to a number of excellent reef, point and beachbreaks located within a short drive around the island. The island is exposed to the strong south-westerly swells born from Antarctic storms and competitors must be ready for anything!

Phillip Island: is only 140 kilometres south-east of Melbourne and is home to abundant wildlife and a host of popular tourist attractions including the Nature Park’s Penguin Parade which welcomes half a million visitors each year. Fishing, boating and of course surfing are also very popular. The island is also home to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The island is naturally stunning and it’s no surprise competitors look forward to returning each year!

Divisions: The Roxy Womens Surf Festival includes seven divisions making it the largest surf competition of its kind for women in Australia. The divisions include a 3A rated Girls Pro Junior, the top-rated 6A womens longboard division, amateur girls under 18, under 16 and under 13 girls divisions plus an over 35 womens category. Now in its fifth year, the World Qualifying Series division has been upgraded to an all-important 5-star rating.

Specialty divisions: In 2006 World Champions Chelsea Georgeson (2005), Pam Burridge (1990), Pauline Menczer (1993) and former world no. 2 Jodie Cooper will be doing their bit for charity. These surfing legends will participate in a teams style event with the prize money being donated to a worthy cause! Stay tuned …
