KASSIA MEADOR
Kassia Meador has a talent for cross-stepping, nose-riding and living her dreams. Growing up on the classic waves of Malibu, Kassia discovered her love of surfing in her early teens. She entered her first competition at 14-the 1997 ROXY Wahine Classic at San Onofre- and won. Recognizing her potential, ROXY offered Kassia a sponsorship on the spot. That was just the start of her graceful ride as one of the world's most respected longboarders.
Since then, Kassia has competed in almost
every major longboarding event in the world. She's consistently placed in the top three in
major events like the ROXY Pro Longboarding Event at Phillip Island, Australia and the Ron
Jon World Longboarding Championship in
Cocoa Beach, FL among others.
Kassia's beauty, charm and effervescent personality have made her a favorite in the longboarding world and the mainstream media. She has hosted several longboarding events and the broadcast coverage of events for Fuel TV and Fox Sports Net. She's also been featured on programs like MTV's "Surf Girls" and ABC's "Switched." And her face has appeared in magazines worldwide.
Kassia's talent and character, both in and out of the water, have been hugely influential to the sport of longboarding. Her tireless lobbying has elevated the sport, its competitions and their prize purses to new levels. Along with Linda Benson, Prue Jeffries, Julie Cox and Cory Schumaker, Kassia was one of the original promoters and orchestrators of the Women's World Longboarding Championship. Most recently, she has helped foster the WWLC's development into an ASP-sanctioned women's longboarding tour - The Women's World Longboarding Championships in Biarittz, France, part of the ROXY Jam Biarritz.
Longboarding-and ROXY-wouldn't be the same without her. |

JULIE COX
As a talented longboarder, surf coach, massage therapist, painter, freelance writer and photographer, Julie Cox travels the world catching inspiration
from the waves.
Though she didn't start surfing regularly until she was 16, Julie remembers being entranced by the ocean as a little kid. She grew up in Agoura Hills, not far from the longboarder's paradise of Malibu, and soon became a local at Zuma and Leo Carrillo State Beach.
At UC Santa Cruz, Julie pursued a degree in Environmental Studies in tandem with a pro surfing career, and was soon offered a ROXY sponsorship. Though she enjoyed her degree,
it was the surfing that stuck.
The road hasn't been without its bumps. In 2002, Julie suffered a major injury while surfing Santa Barbara's legendary Rincon, and was out of the water for six months. Worried that it signaled the end of her surfing odyssey, she decided it might be time to take a "normal" career, so she pursued massage therapy. She loved making a difference in people's lives, but it only took one surf session to get her back in the water for good. Before her year of recovery was up, Julie was charging waves at Mexico's notorious Puerto Escondido.
Through surfing, Julie has gained confidence in her creativity, showing her art in exhibits all over California, and writing stories for various publications. As the latest merger of her two loves, she recently launched The Jule Collection with Jed Noll, a line of jewel-inspired women's surfboards that mixes her art and surf knowledge with his masterful shaping.
Julie loves the camaraderie of women's surfing
as much as the sport itself. She credits many of the competitors, with Linda Benson as their mentor, for their collaborative efforts-together they built the momentum and the community
for the Women's World Longboard Championship.
Now living in Oceanside, California, Julie will continue researching and developing the Jule Collection surfboard line, pursuing photography, and hopes to make a documentary film about the lives of the women longboarders.

CRYSTAL DZIGAS
Hawaiian-born Crystal Dzigas loves riding waves. After years playing on bodyboards with her brother and cousins, she rented a longboard at Waikiki when she was 15. Instantly hooked, she spent the next few years perfecting her board-walking. When she moved to Oahu at 18, she decided to pick up shortboarding, too. Four years later, she is a promising pro longboarder and one of the most talented
cross-over surfers around.
Crystal became a ROXY team member after being spotted by Megan Abubo on Oahu's North Shore. She established her pro longboarding career with a 2001 second place finish in her first pro competition in Biarritz, France. In 2005, she placed second in both longboarding and shortboarding in the T & C Women's Pipeline Competition, the first stand-alone women's event at the famous break. Though she's proved that she can charge Pipe with the best of them, you're more likely to find her cruising her favorite spot, Pupukea, on her longboard.
Between competitions, Crystal travels the world as a surfer and model. She has a featured spot in ROXY's new all-girls surfing video, "Shimmer" and recently took a turn as stunt surfer for the show "Beyond the Break." All the while, Crystal
has continued to pursue her studies at Hawaii Pacific University. She graduated this year with
a degree in Business.

KULA BARBIETO
Kula Barbieto is a true waterwoman. The daughter of a Big Island commercial fisherman, she grew up seeing the ocean as the center of everything - the source
of her family's food, income and fun. With spear-fishing and life-guarding already under
her belt, she learned to surf at the age of 14,
and life hasn't been the same since.
Kula gained recognition as one of the stars of MTV's "Surf Girls." Along with 13 other contestants, she spent six weeks training and riding waves, vying on camera for a ROXY sponsorship. She didn't win the competition, but her positive attitude and Hawaiian spirit got her the sponsorship anyway, as she became an instant favorite among fans, fellow contestants and the rest of the ROXY team.
Kula has since traveled the world representing ROXY as a surfer, model and actress. Among the highlights was her trip aboard the Quiksilver Crossing, a round-the-world expedition to seek untouched waves and study natural ocean habitats. Surfing far-off breaks and examining coral reefs was a perfect match for her
ocean-loving ways.
Rolling her television experience and surfing talent into a successful career as an actress
and stunt surfer, Kula has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, and has been featured in magazines like FHM, Surfer Girl and Spin. She now lives on Oahu, but island-hops frequently to visit family and surf her favorite break, Honolua Bay in Maui. When there's no surf, you can find her enjoying other island pastimes: spear-fishing
and dancing Hula and Tahitian.
