Congratulations Lindsay Steinreide for winning the Roxy Jam!

Congratulations Lindsay Steinreide for winning the 2006 Roxy Jam. Lindsay held her position since the round of 48 to clench her win in today's final. “This season, I was fortunate enough to take out the Corona event in Hawaii and then I got 2nd in the event in Huntington (Beach), but this is by far my biggest win ever,” Lindsay said on the magnitude of her win. “This has to be the biggest event of the season and I’m so stoked with this win because I wasn’t able to go to France to compete so I’m happy I did well here.”

Jen Smith, Roxy's newest team rider, was ready to prove to the world that her second place win at the WWLC in Biarritz this summer was only practice to the win she hoped to earn today. "I'm having so much fun being out there," said Jen before heading out for her final. "It just feels really good. I am going to just take it heat by heat and make it to the final. I am hoping for a win." Unfortunately, the right waves didn't come through for Jen and the world's number two ranked surfer placed fourth. Jen did manage to win the Longest Noseride Presented by Hansen's Surfboards with a 14.17 in her semi-final heat, she will pocket $3000.00 for that ride.

Placing second in the all USA pro final of the Roxy Jam were Cori Schumacher and in third was Kaitlin Maguire.

Junior women (13-17) taking the podium: Ming Hui Brown (1st), Oleema Miller (2nd), Savannah Shaughnessy (3rd), and Tory Gilkersen (4th) .

Master women's in the final include Melanie Bouse in first place, Maryellen Rogers in second, Stacy Willis in third and Blythe Bejan in fourth place.

Menehune finalists were in first Anneke Barrie, second place Marisa Peterson, Third Lulu Ekernoff and in fourth Sarah Scwab.

Teenie Wahines with a stage finish were: Ashley Beeson (1st), Mckenzie Davey (2nd), Rachael Tilly (3rd), Malia Faramarzi (4th), Keara Kirkpatrick (5th) and Olivia Sandoval (6th).

The legend expression session was packed with talent and former world champions: Linda Benson, Jericho Poppler, Jock Sutherland, Skip Frye, Steve Walden, Donald Takayuma, Debbie Beachum, Lisa Andersen, Mickey Munoz, and LJ Richards.

A paddle board race was also featured in this Roxy Jam festival featuring Roxy rider Shannon McIntyre, Roxy marketing event girl Cedar Pearsall, Meredith Rose, Jenni Kidmishi, Stacy Willis, Michelle Leyton and Jenny Useldinger. Winning the paddle board race was Jenni Useldinger.

A tandem expression session turned heads this afternoon with three teams; Frederic Branger and Valerie Duprat from France, Calob Wilburn and Wendy Lynn from Encinitas, Bobby and Tiare Friedmann who just got 2nd in the world championship and Chuck Inman and Kelia Moniz.

"I think this contest is great. We couldn't have asked for better waves. I think it's great what Roxy is doing for women's longboarding," said Linda Benson of her contest with Roxy.
