STANDOUT INTERNATIONAL FEMALE LONGBOARDERS HIT ROXY JAM CARDIFF TOMORROW

CARDIFF, Calif. (Friday, September 22, 2006) ? Tomorrow will see 80 of world?s best female longboarders hit the peaks at Cardiff reef for the first annual Roxy Jam Cardiff running September 23-24, 2006. An Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America regional event, the Roxy Jam Cardiff is a six-star rated event on the Women?s World Longboard Tour (WWLT) and will serve as the regional qualifier for the ASP Women?s World Longboarding Championships held in June 2007 in Biarritz, France.

Schuyler McFerran (Encinitas, CA), defending ASP Women?s World Longboard Champion, will be in attendance and keen to continue her international dominance as she faces current ASP world No. 2 and 3, Jennifer Smith (San Diego) and Bianca Valenti (Isla Vista, CA).

"The Roxy Jam Cardiff featuring the Linda Benson Women's Longboard Pro is a huge milestone for female longboarders who, until now, have received very little support from the pro surfing circuit. Thanks to the support of Roxy and the ASP, female longboarders finally have a real tour in which to compete," Linda Benson, President of WWLT, said.

With professional longboarders traveling from Australia, France, Hawaii, Japan, the United Kingdom and all over the United States, competition at the Roxy Jam Cardiff will be of the highest caliber.

Heats begin tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM PST.

Live scores will be available at http://surf.roxy.com/2006/cardiff/.
